We met Parmenas Awudza, a Togolese photographer and also finalist of the 2023 edition of the ellipse Prize. Influenced by humans and fascinated by coincidences, Parmenas Awudza describes his practice as instant photography. The artist’s work consists in dissecting the banalities of everyday life in order to extract their singularity. As an introvert, the photographer has found in this discipline the means to approach people and capture the beauty of these moments. Interview made at Eric Wonanu studio in Lomé last June.

Clément Gbegno is a pluridisciplinary visual artist, finalist of the ellipse Prize 2023 dedicated to the Togolese scene. The young artist started painting as it was a game before training at the Beaux-Arts of Abidjan then in Nantes. His artistic approach questions transformation steps inherent to human life, called « Décomposito recomposition ». Mixing pigments, collages and pastels, these canvas feature the African identity through ancestral symbols as the twins, the Ankh cross and geomancy. Interview made at Clément Gbegno studio in Nantes last June.
